Henry de Lambert

Winemaker

A native of Windsor, CA, Henry de Lambert joins the Roth Estate team with a decade of winemaking experience and a deep love for Sonoma County life. As a fifth generation Sonoma County resident, Henry grew up playing sports and trail running at Foothill Regional Park, which offers amazing views of Roth’s estate vineyards. “Roth Estate is the closest winery to my childhood home, and I am thrilled to produce wines from an appellation that has been in my backyard all my life.”

Henry attended University of California, San Diego and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering with the intent to continue to medical school. During his final year of undergraduate studies, he experienced a pivotal moment when he fell in love with fermentation science while learning to brew beer.  This realization led him to pursue courses at Sonoma State University, where he earned an Executive MBA in Wine Business.

Henry’s career in the wine industry began at Mauritson Wines in Dry Creek Valley as a Lab Technician, and later as an Enologist. He recalls, “working at a small family winery afforded me the opportunity to wear multiple hats and learn not only the basics but the high standards required to produce high quality wines.” In 2020, he joined Trinchero Family Estates as Assistant Winemaker, where he expanded his knowledge of beverage alcohol, procurement strategies and logistics.

Henry joined Foley Family Wines in July 2021 as Associate Winemaker at PreVail Winery and was quickly promoted to Director of Winery Operations, overseeing budgets, scheduling and facility utilization. In February 2023, Henry accepted the position of Winemaker for Roth Estate where he looks forward to producing excellent Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley. Whether he is getting his hands dirty digging out tanks during harvest, walking the vineyards, or conducting blending trials, Henry loves all aspects of winemaking. He has adopted a “less is more” winemaking philosophy; “my job as a winemaker is to let the fruit do the talking, I am just here to guide it from grape to glass.”

Outside of his work at the winery, Henry enjoys grilling in the backyard, watching the SF Giants, fishing and hiking around Sonoma County and spending time with his wife Kara, their two adventurous sons Charlie and Eddie, and their dog Parker.
