AROMAS & FLAVORS
The 2019 vintage began with a long, cool growing season staging us for a later than normal start date to harvest. We had some intense Labor Day heat which pushed the vines to maturation. The disease pressure was low and quality was good across the board. Harvest wrapped up on October 23 with mother nature delivering us a roller coaster of a season, but with it, a nuance and diversity of fruit expression unique to this vintage.
VINEYARDS & WINEMAKING
The grapes for our 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon were sourced from our La Cuesta vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley. The combination of full sun exposure, low rainfall, long growing season, and porous soils makes the Santa Ynez Valley a great site for all the Bordeaux varieties. The grapes were hand-harvested from September 17 – October 23, 2019 and sorted in open top fermenters, then pressed off to barrel for secondary fermentation. It was aged for 20 months in French and American oak barrels (50% new) before final blending and bottling on June 15, 2021.
