Winemaker, Firestone Vineyard
Lorna Kreutz
Lorna’s passion for wine began while attending school, where she got her first taste of the industry working a hospitality job in Edna Valley. Intrigued by the business, she shifted her focus to wine production after completing a viticulture internship.
In 2005, Lorna started her wine production career at Longoria Wines in Sta. Rita Hills. She vividly remembers the first time she topped a barrel, captivated by the blend of farming, science, and artistry that goes into making great wine. It was here that she also fell in love with the rolling vineyards of the Santa Rita Hills AVA, a region known for its exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. After a few vintages as Assistant Winemaker at Longoria, Lorna went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Enology from California State University Fresno, graduating in 2008. While studying in Fresno, she also worked at Fresno State Winery, before moving on to roles as Enologist and Assistant Winemaker at Summerwood Winery and Niner Wine Estates in Paso Robles.
Her journey brought her back to the Sta. Rita Hills in 2011, where she joined Foley Wine Group as Assistant Winemaker for both Lincourt Vineyards and Foley Estate. Surrounded by a team of hardworking, generous, and fun people, Lorna continued to hone her craft. Now, as the Winemaker for Firestone, Lincourt, and Foley Estates, she is excited to carry on the tradition of producing high-quality wines from the best vineyards in Sta. Rita Hills and the Santa Ynez Valley.
Lorna lives in Los Alamos with her husband, Matt, who also works in the wine industry, their son Alphie, two dogs—Gandhi and Pine—and her cat, Celty. When she’s not making wine, Lorna enjoys good food (especially Indian and Thai), hiking, and photography.
